Welcome to The Cosplay Research Project Website!
All the information and research on this website is geared to be a resource for everyone interested in cosplay, Japan, anthropology, travel and more! Here you can find work from my thesis, research, and work as an anthropologist and media writer for the past 6+ years.
Hey everyone! Welcome! If you're wondering - yes I am still working on this website but no I have not added much new content to the site in a little while. The reason for this is that I'm finally working on my book! Stay tuned for more details.
You can currently read my articles on www.bigshinyrobot.com - where I write under the Robot Pen Name "Miss Mecha" (anime, geek news, reviews, opinion pieces and more)! I am also working on a novel detailing my journeys since college. If you're interested in reading more about my travels in Japan, Cosplay, Youth Culture, Anthropology, or Geeky Stuffs like web design, social media, etc. then check out my blog at www.ladylarajonesadventures.com - I haven't written on the old blog much lately but there's still a lot to see!
Video Project:
"Today, I'm Julia," is a short profile about American/Asian Cosplayer Julia who has lived in the US and Tokyo and cosplayed in both countries for several years. We have two files for your to watch. The first is our finished/refined documentary, which was shown at the Pink Cow in Shibuya, Tokyo and will be aired online on vimeo and youtube. The second file is a rougher, earlier cut, but we have left in some more detailed information including DANPA and other phenomenon for those who wish to delve deeper into learning about cosplay. Enjoy!
Our special thanks go out to Julia, Tokyo 'Layers Paradise 2010 and the Franklin Pierce University Gamers Club and Anime Club, without whom none of this would have been possible!

Please be patient while I continue to add information to the site. Thanks!
I am working very hard to upload everything from my thesis and my other work to this domain. Since I am currently pursing a masters degree, working 50 plus hours a week, and managing this domain by myself, I ask that you please forgive me if I can not respond to your email inquiries right away.
